Bali is situated within the archipelago of Indonesia.
Sitting just across the water from East Java, the island of Bali
has for a long-time been the jewel in the crown of Indonesian
tourism. For travellers who adore the sea, Bali has an offshore
playground
second to none. Scuba diving and snorkelling tours are available
with a good number of tour agencies to the many and varied dive
sites. Sailing tours on local outrigger sailboats can be arranged
departing
from Sanur, Benoa Harbour and Nusa Dua, as well as on the north
coast, and keen fishermen can organise the hire of equipment.
A tiny island
of elegant temples, verdant landscape and fine surf, Bali attracts
many visitors to its southern beach resorts and interior land
of beautiful volcanoes and stunning old temples. A trip to Bali
can
be organised as either a package, luxury vacation, cheap holiday
to Bali or as an all-inclusive deal. There are some excellent
bargain holidays to Bali on the market at present, with the possibility
of including a two-centre twin holiday with Singapore for example.
Bali
has a climate that is tropical with an average temperature
hovering around 30 degrees Celsius all year round.
Denpasar
Denpasar, the capital, is in the south of Bali, about 10km (6mi) north-east
of Kuta. This is a city that has experienced much growth
and wealth over the last quarter of a century and now has the bustle and confusion
that goes with being one of the fastest growing cities in Asia.
Gunung Batur
Gunung Batur is in northern Bali, approximately 35km north
of Ubud. The volcanic cone of Gunung Batur, and the lake that
fills half of the surrounding caldera, form one of Bali's
most spectacular landscapes. Holidaymakers van view a truly
stunning sunrise by climbing the peak of Batur.
Kuta Bay
This area includes the two popular beach resorts for holidays
in Kuta
and Legian. The area offers value for money accommodation,
western food, shopping, surfing, sunsets and exciting nightlife.
The Sari nightclub re-opened in July 2003, and tourist numbers
are picking up after the terrorist attacks of 2002. It is still
viewed as the best beach on Bali with the only surf that breaks
over sand instead of coral. Away from the beaches holidaymakers
will discover a selection of hotels in Kuta Bay, as well as restaurants, bars, food
stalls and shops.
Nusa Dua
This is a place becoming more popular with tourists looking for a superb holiday
accommodation in Bali with white sandy beaches, and very few
local Balinese to spoil the tourists' fun. A good selection of
large, luxury hotels in Nusa Dua are readily available, and for
visitors interested
in a short drive from the airport, good food, a
Balinese dance performance or two, as well as outstanding
beaches, Nusa Dua is an excellent Bali holiday choice.
Ubud
Ubud is the cultural centre of Bali where holidaymakers can take
off in any direction and be sure of an interesting walk - maybe
to a secluded craft hamlet, through rice paddies or into the
enthralling Monkey Forest, just south of the town centre. Ubud
is an excellent place to enjoy Balinese dancing and
music, and with some of the best restaurants on the island,
holiday accommodation on Ubud would let you experience some real
Balinese culture.
